Roller furnace for heat treatment of wire rods in a protective atmosphere #1364

Batch roller furnace with loading machine in protective atmosphere for the heat treatment of steel wire rods. The load placed on special reels is positioned by means of an overhead crane on the specific loading/unloading machine with double roller conveyor. The charge is made up of 8 steel coils with a maximum diameter of 1,500mm and a maximum height of 2,700mm, the total weight of the charge to be treated is 34 tons. The cycle begins with the washing of the chamber by nitrogen flushing and once the desired residual oxygen content has been reached, the thermal treatment cycle can begin. Heating is obtained with radiant tube burners arranged below and above the charge to be treated on 4 regulation zones. Each area has a recirculation fan to optimise the temperature uniformity of the treated coils. During the design phase, a careful thermo-fluid dynamic study was carried out to achieve the performance required by the customer. Operating temperature of the furnace from 650°C to 850°C with guaranteed uniformity of +/- 6°C over the entire working volume. Maximum oven temperature of 880°C. High productivity of the system which, thanks to the loading/unloading machine, allows the furnace to be always under heat treatment. Very low added decarburisation values thanks to the 100% nitrogen protective atmosphere, analysis panel consisting of CO2, O2 and dew point analysers and related regulation system. Excellent mechanical properties of the treated material and thermal uniformity thanks to the heating and atmosphere recirculation system.
